1. A tourist guide (hereafter called guide): A guide professionally and conscientiously does his/her activity in accordance with the Law on tourism, the Statute of the Association of Tourist Guides of Novi Sad and clauses of this Code.

2. A guide presents his/her knowledge, interprets and explains the sights and informs a group or individual clients in an objective and attractive way with enthusiasm and optimism.

3. A guide has versatile knowledge of his/her country and town, their history, architecture, culture, politics, folklore and customs. In that respect he/she keeps pace with technical literature, written and electronic media and throughprofessional work and practice improves his/her general and vocational education.

4. A guide makes preparations for each task given in advance. It means being well informed about the best routes for each tour, including the knowledge of traffic regulations, working hours of all the institutions which participate in the realization of that task, as well as the way of mutual efficient communication.

5. A guide is informed of all the happenings such as new exhibitions, concerts and other events as well of current changes in the town and the country.

6. A guide does not give inaccurate information deliberately. The deliberate giving of inaccurate information aimed at covering up the ignorance of the subject or with the aim of acquiring material or some other benefit for himself/herself or others is regarded as a serious violation of this Code.

7. A guide, while working, does nor air his/her views, political, religious and other beliefs, attitudes and opinions and shows understanding and tolerance of those of others.

8. When it depends on him/her, a guide is punctual and meets his/her working and material obligations to all the participants in the job.

9. A guide is familiar with, abides by and observes the law, regulations and rules in all the localities, institutions and sites wherever he/she takes the group.

11. A guide is dressed appropriately to the kind of job and circumstances under which that job is carried out.

12. A guide does not ask for tips either for himself/herself or the others and does not abuse the privileges of free services to which he/she is entitled according to the tourist practice or regulations.

13. A guide, while working, presents and protects the interests of the ordering party. This relation comprises reciprocal obligations of the guide and the ordering party to take i.e. deliver and check all the documents, programmes as well as everything else necessary for a successful realization of the task in due time.

14. A guide knows and observes the business policy and decisions of the ordering party. A guide does not take on the job from the clients of the ordering party without the knowledge of the ordering party. When a new service to the client is concerned, a guide has a responsibility to inform the ordering party about such an arrangement. The violation of these rules is considered to be a serious violation of this Code.

15. While being engaged – working or in spare time with a group or individual clients a guide treats all the participants equally according to the rules of conduct and abides by the customary social norm and rules.

17. A guide appreciates the research effort, work and knowledge of other guides; he/she does not plagiarize or uses individual techniques of presentation and their comments as his/her own without their permission.

18. A guide protects, by his/her work or behaviour,the reputation and interest ofco-workers, the Association of Tourist Guides of Novi Sad, the ordering party, his/her town and country and thus his/her own.

19. A guide abides by this Code all the rules, decisions, price list and the Statute of the Association of Tourists Guides of Novi Sad thus achieving the basis for high quality evaluation of his/her work and the profession itself.
